What happens before, during and after admission
A clear, respectful pathway from assessment to admission day, through the daily programme and into aftercare.
The assessment
Before admission, UKAT conducts a comprehensive assessment by telephone or face to face. Service users are encouraged to visit their chosen centre where possible.
Admission day
- Arrive at pre-arranged time, can be accompanied by family or friends
- Admission process takes approximately two hours
- Reviewing assessment form and signing the treatment contract
- Belongings search
- Meeting your buddy
- Handing in phone, money and medication
- Preparing the Recovery and Risk Management Plan
- Meeting the Doctor if detox
- On arrival, the service user must be able to complete the admission assessment and have the capacity to do so. If a client arrives under the influence and is unable to participate safely or meaningfully in the assessment, their admission may need to be postponed.
- If any new or previously withheld information is disclosed on admission that was not discussed during the assessment process, this may affect whether the admission can proceed as planned.
