Referrer expectations

What you can expect from UKAT

Clear communication and consistent standards throughout the referral, treatment and discharge process.

After you refer

Each stage, communicated clearly

  1. Referral received & reviewed

    Within 24–48 hours of submission with sufficient information.

  2. Assessment conducted

    By telephone or face to face by the admissions team.

  3. Admissions co-ordination

    Liaison between referrer, service user, Centre Manager and Doctor.

  4. Decision communicated

    Within 72 hours of assessment to the referring key worker.

  5. Admission confirmed

    Date and time confirmed through the referring key worker.

During treatment

Six-week progress updates provided to the referring organisation
Discharge notification issued on or before discharge date
Full discharge report provided
Immediate contact for significant changes in clinical status
Immediate contact for safeguarding concerns
Immediate contact for discharge risk

Your Admissions Co-ordinator

The admissions team manages the referral process end to end. A dedicated co-ordinator liaises between you, the service user, the Centre Manager and the Doctor throughout.

Immediate escalation

UKAT contacts referrers immediately for significant clinical changes, safeguarding concerns or discharge risk, no delays, no escalation queues.

Information Sharing

Secure, compliant data handling for every referral.

Operates under formal Information Sharing Agreements with key referring organisations
Compliant with UK GDPR, Data Protection Act 2018 and Caldicott Principles
CGL referrers can use CRiiS for secure referral information sharing
Additional ISAs available for other organisations on request
